Love is in the air, once again, here in the office! Hannah, one of our Project Managers, returned from the festive break with the fabulous news that she and her boyfriend, Jack, had got engaged!
The pair had been away to Venice together over New Years, and he proposed on their first day in the city. While they don’t have a specific date set yet, they hope to tie the knot in 2019.
We are so, so happy for the pair, and would like to wish them both all the best wishes for their future together!
Hannah’s engagement is the third in the Locale office in the last year – surely, there must be something in the water?!
The judges have made their final decisions for this year’s Facilities Management Awards hosted by BUILD Magazine, and we are delighted to announce that Locale has been successful for the second year in a row, winning Best FM Solutions Specialists – South England.
When asked by the judges why he believes that Locale is the best possible option for clients, Guy Windsor Lewis, CEO and Founder commented:
“We’re trusted, respected, knowledgeable, agile, cost effective and we offer first-class customer service. He went on to add: “with clients that include 4 out of 5 of the leading management agents; Locale’s cutting edge portals are used by some of the most iconic, high profile developments and management companies in Europe and are always looking to innovate and improve our offering to our clients. We are currently working on projects with a practical completion date of 2040! Locale work closely with clients to find out what their needs are and offer solutions as these evolve. For instance, having recognised that there was a need for a system that could streamline and simplify operations for multiple properties, earlier this year we launched a unique solution that allows managers to manage multiple properties in real-time. We are also launching a specific product solution for residential associations as well as an app. Other technologies and partnerships that we are excited to be working with are Artificial Intelligence, key and asset tracking, sensors and facial recognition”
Scott Craig, Head of Client Services added:
“We are a small, fun and friendly company – our staff are driven and passionate about what we do. Management are really supportive and reward individuals with days out, attendance to key industry events as well as incentives, rewards (such as Employee of the Month/Employee of the Quarter) and frequent social events. It’s a great place to work!”
Heather Ryan, Awards Coordinator, stated in their press release:
“Our awards are dedicated to recognising those hidden heroes within the Facilities Management role for their excellence and dedication to the profession. It has been a real pleasure to showcase the hard work and dedication, and I would like to wish each and every one of our winners the very best of luck in the future!”

2017 has been a great year for Locale, and we are thrilled to have been recognised by our peers and clients for all the great work we do. We’ve sponsored awards, and received two awards of our own including an SME Greater London Business Award.
Here’s to a wonderful, and hopefully just as successful, 2018…
After months of deliberation, the shortlist for the prestigious London Planning Awards 2018 has finally been released. Here at Locale, we were thrilled to read that some of our clients have been nominated!
The London Planning Awards have been recognising and rewarding various elements of planning in the capital since 2003, ranging from The Best Place to Work to The Mayor’s Award for Innovation in Planning. The final award of the night, The Mayor’s Award for Planning Excellence, is chosen from the evening’s winners.
Lexicon, the second submission for Mount Anvil, has also been nominated for The Best New Place to Live. This seeks to recognise the creation of desirable housing that is diverse in range, while also providing access to shops, schools and public transport.
St James’s Market has been submitted by The Crown Estate in the category for Best Place to Work, which seeks to recognise developments that are well-designed, energy efficient, encourage environmentally-friendly access but also have good access to a range of facilities and amenities.
The Shard has also been nominated by REM, for The Best Project Five Years On, an award that recognises projects that have “stood the test of time” and created a high-quality environment.
The awards are set to take place at Whitehall Palace, Banqueting House on Thursday January 18th 2018. Congratulations once again to all of the nominees. We wish everyone the very best of luck!
Friday the 15th of December was a big day for us here in the office – the date of our annual Christmas Party! We were all very much in the festive spirit having decorated the office the week before and celebrated Christmas Jumper Day. We swapped our festive woollies for our best ‘black tie’ attire and headed to the venue, which was kept a secret in the run-up to the night and only revealed an hour before the party. This year we celebrated at the prestigious Macdonald Randolph Hotel.
On arrival, we were met with glasses of champagne, which were continually filled throughout the night. Speeches were made before we all sat down to eat, recognising just how much the company has grown in the last twelve months and how many new additions there have been to the team. Awards were handed, with Frances being awarded Employee of the Year for 2017, having previously won the first ever Employee of the Quarter. Scott came a close second, and was awarded this year’s runner-up. An award was also handed to Jade for ‘Longest Running Office Joke’, which had the whole group laughing for way too long!
The final ‘gifts’ of the night were given to Jonathan and Andy (who was unfortunately unable to attend as he was busy getting married!) our office ‘BFG’s’ or ‘Bug Fixing Geniuses’ and their biggest fans, Eszter and Frances, our fantastic support team. We expect to see them all sporting their personalised t-shirts in the office at least once a week!
We sat down to our starters and main courses, before a break for a very grown-up game of Pass The Parcel, the handing out of Secret Santa gifts and the Annual Christmas Party Quiz! Copious amounts of champagne and wine throughout the night led to lots of giggles, many silly selfies and even a few disagreements about the names of Santa’s Reindeer. One thing that we could agree on, was that a fabulous night was had by all! Here’s to a wonderful and hopefully even more successful 2018…
As many people will be aware, December 15th is Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save The Children! Here at Locale, we are already very much in the festive spirit after decorating the office last week. We were super excited to don our festive knitwear and flaunt our festive woollies, made even better by the fact that it was in aid of charity…!
The office was, for the day, manned by the big man himself Santa Claus alongside multiple ‘Mini Me’s! We also had a sequinned Reindeer and Beagle, an Elf, a Snowman – as well as a very confusing at first, ‘No L’ hoodie worn by Jonathan in the far left of the picture above…
The team each paid a contribution of £2, of which all the money goes to charity, to take part in two sweepstakes with prizes for the winners – having to guess which Christmas song James Corden was ‘listening to’ and which festive item was ‘being held’ by Jon Snow! Scott actually managed to guess both the song and the item correctly with the answers being ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ and ‘Christmas Ties’, but was kind enough to give his prize to the newest member of the team, Andi.
The team raised around £30 in aid of Save The Children which goes towards supporting children in various ways, such as providing food, bringing essential healthcare and educating them all over the world. We all very much enjoyed the chance to be festive yet again, especially Eszter who as we all know, loves Christmas! We hope to support Christmas Jumper Day 2018 as well…
The Employee of the Quarter October to December 2017 has been decided – and the winner is, Hannah! Hannah was the runner-up last Quarter, so she is a very deserving winner this time around. Hannah takes the crown from Scott, who won last Employee of the Quarter!
Hannah is one of our Project Managers, and has been with Locale for almost two years! She’s been super smiley, positive and hardworking for the last few months and is very deserving of the award this time around.
We also announced the runner-up for this quarter which was, yet again, Jael! Jael also tied with Hannah as runners-up last Quarter.
Employee of the Quarter is always peer-voted, and the reappearance of both Hannah and Jael proves just how important they are, and how much they are both valued. Congratulations to our final winner and runner-up of the year!
The Locale team were delighted to hear that one of our clients, FirstPort were shortlisted as finalists in 10 individual and one corporate category at this year’s News on the Block Property Management Awards 2017-18.
These awards celebrate professional excellence in the UK property management industry and have become an important event in the calendar to recognise specialists, both at an individual and company level.
The FirstPort team were nominated for an impressive number of awards, including the Customer Service Award and London Property Management Company of the Year.
At the awards ceremony on 30th November 2017, FirstPort took home the New Build Property Management Company of the Year award, and John Graham was the winner of London Property Manager of the Year. They also came Highly Commended in a number of other categories.
Congratulations to them from everyone at Locale!
The results of 2017’s Q3 Quarterly Awards are in! This quarter, Emerald Gardens and 55 Bishops gate have been named our winners.
For these Quarterly Awards Locale’s Client Services Manager – Scott Craig – presented The Proactivity Award to Andy Wadsworth and his team at Emerald Gardens and The Efficiency Award to Christian Kleidon and his team at 55 Bishopsgate. Scott also presented both sites with some delicious cakes to celebrate their wins!
The Proactivity Award is awarded to a site that actively promotes their Locale portal, and looks at ways to enhance visibility and communication across their estate. Emerald Gardens, a FirstPort site at Wembley Park, received their Proactivity Reward in recognition of development manager Andy and assistant development manager Eimantas’s efforts in encouraging their teams to adopt the system.
On Locale, Andy said ”I would recommend these guys for any development, they have done a great job in Wembley!.”
The winner in the Efficiency category was 55 Bishopsgate, an MJ Mapp site in the heart of London.
The site was awarded their certificate in recognition of the extent to which they have used their portal, and due to the fact that they have been role models for onsite demonstrations.
On the 55 Bishopsgate Portal, Christian commented ”Locale has been great for us here to drive efficiency and streamline communication. In a recent tenants’ meeting one of our tenants raised that they were already aware of most of the agenda items because they had seen the information on the portal. It takes a few months to get all stakeholders on board but now that’s done we’re looking at ways to use the portal more.”
Congratulations to both our winners, your awards are very much deserved.
Here’s to the next Quarterly Awards!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and the elves have been busy as things have gotten festive in the office, all in the spirit of Christmas! The tree is up, the computers have been decorated with tinsel, the bunting has been hung – the countdown to the big day has begun…
Friday afternoon was spent decorating the office, listening to festive music, and generally getting in the festive spirit. The Christmas Tree, which takes pride of place in the center of the office, was set up by Jade, Frances and Eszter – and there are even presents wrapped underneath – while Hannah and Jael were in charge of putting up the bunting around the office itself. Eszter claims to have been the most excited about putting up the tree, stating that there were “not enough words to describe just how excited she was”!
And ‘Wham!’ Christmas is here – with very serious faces from everyone, but Jade and Eszter (obviously)!
“Eat, Drink and Be Merry!” can be found on the office window, which is obviously everyone’s slogan this time of year! A fabulous way to end the week, and only two more weeks to the day itself…
Merry Christmas, from everyone here at Locale!
Locale enjoyed a fantastic evening at this year’s Property Week Management Allstar Awards! Not only were we fortunate enough to attend the event, but we sponsored the ‘Commercial Property Manager of the Year’ award and Locale CEO & Founder Guy Windsor-Lewis presented the award on the night.
We’d like to take the time to congratulate all the winners and nominees, it was great to see so many of our clients being recognised for all their hard work. A special congratulations to MJ Mapp for their Commercial Property Manager of the Year win and to BNP Paribas for their Employer of the Year win.
Have a look at some our of photos from the event, and the video that Property Week shared:
Thank you Property Week for putting on such a great event. It was an honour to attend, and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
