Guy Windsor-Lewis, Chief Executive of Locale, takes a deeper look at the value of being strong, stable and having a robust track record.
We have well and truly entered a new dawn. Having spoken incessantly about political uncertainties driving a volatile economic market, the revolving door of housing ministers and general fatigue, this month the nation went to the polls and voted for change. It may have been a landslide for the Labour Party but it begs the question why so many tactically voted for him. Was it purely because of their anger at the Tories? What about those unconvinced by Sir Keir Starmer and his demeanour? The most common takeaway from the campaign and in many ways defined Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership to date has been the fact that he is boring. I am not saying politicians shouldn’t be good performers or orators (it does have its place) but it does seem that populist politics shifted the balance and created a craze in which the theatricals seem to be the reason for winning votes as opposed to a party’s vision or policy.
For me, Sir Keir Starmer might not ooze charisma and be an Oscar-winning actor but he doesn’t need to be when it comes to politics. For many he is viewed a safe pair of hands, who offers stability. This prompted the question whether stability is actually underrated? We all crave it when it comes to our own personal finances, our work and our businesses then why is there an apathy to it when it comes to the leadership of this country?
It also begs the question whether stability is something we overlook in the real estate technology sector. Forgive me if you think I am hitting the repeat button but too many real estate businesses still fall for the new, shiny toy without thinking it through. Being innovative and forward thinking is absolutely the right approach however it cannot be the expense of getting the basics right. It might not sound sexy and exciting but ensuring the right systems and software are in place has to be the top priority.
So when you’re vetting for the right digital solution, it’s worth understanding the business, its track record. Can they be relied on not only to deliver but to then be a sustainable and long-term partner? What are others in the industry saying? Do they deliver on their promises? Are they good at solving problems?
At Locale, we have been digitising buildings for almost two decades. As an independent business, we oversell and underdeliver – we prefer to be honest and be precise in the way to offer our solutions. We will not only give you what you want but identify what you actually need. But crucially, it’s our track record in weathering multiple challenges including recessions and a pandemic and still delivering on our promises, evolving our offering and innovating that has resulted in many of our clients being our partners for over a decade.
Our stability and focus to ensure a seamless service is the reason why we continue to steadily grow and offer a digital framework that’s sustainable.
