What’s a misconception about your position?
People assume that I spend all day writing code! Actually, I spend more time reading and understanding other people’s code to check that it matches the business logic. Sometimes a mistake in a single line – even a single character – can cause completely the opposite of the desired outcome.
What's an accomplishment you're really proud of?
I’m really proud of the stability of the Locale platform and infrastructure. We’ve made incremental changes over the years to improve our uptime and introduced automated code testing so that we can release new updates with confidence.
How would you spend 30 minutes of free time?
I’ve recently tried to get back into running. I’m still at the “I’m not sure if I’m actually enjoying this” stage.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I’m definitely a late owl. I like the peace and quiet once everyone else has gone to sleep, it gives me time and space to think.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
“If in doubt, do. You’ll only ever regret the things you didn’t.” I think it’s important to be brave and have faith in ourselves to take a risk every now and then!
